Institutions never ask one person to cover everything. They run desks — separate teams for structure, risk, execution and news — and that division of labour is a real part of why they perform. A retail trader is expected to be all of those desks at once, on one screen, while the market moves.
There is a ceiling to what one person can watch. Blackwood exists to raise it: the software tracks the demanding, easily-missed parts of market analysis continuously, so you know what is actually in front of you and can decide for yourself with better information. Blackwood is a Ghana-based software company — it doesn't trade on anyone's behalf, and it renders software and analysis services only.
Every module — from the SMC panel to the math dashboard — was built and tested against live market conditions and prop-firm style risk rules. No theory. Just working infrastructure.
The entire stack runs on cloud infrastructure and MetaTrader 5, with a file-bridge architecture purpose-built to handle broker-side WebRequest restrictions.
I have traded retail for eight years, and I hold a BSc in Finance from KNUST in Kumasi. Most of those years trading were trial and error, and they taught me one thing plainly: there is no single strategy that keeps working. Markets change, currencies behave differently in different regimes, and an edge that worked last year quietly decays.
What holds up is a well-built analysis tool. It reads the same conditions the same way every session, it doesn't get bored, frustrated or hopeful after a loss, and it keeps checking the things a tired trader stops checking at 2am.
